Difference between the DAS and DAS28

The DAS measures 44 joints for swelling and 53 joints for tenderness using the Ritchie scoring system. The DAS28 is a validated and simplified disease activity measurement tool. Here, 28 joints are measured both for swelling and tenderness. A common misconception is the existence of a DAS44 or DAS52. These instruments do however not exist; there is only the DAS or the DAS28.
